December Program Planning Meeting& Holiday LuncheonSaturday, December 8, 2001 Honolulu Elks Lodge 2933 Kalakaua Avenue 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free Parking Luncheon Speaker - Dr. Deane Neubauer - Interim Chancellor University of Hawaii at Manoa "Haves" and "Have-Nots ": A Global Market Perspective ABOUT THE DECEMBER MEETING League program is made up of those governmental issues that members choose for concerted study and action. The program planning meeting on December 8 is your opportunity to suggest problems and issues at the local and state levels which you think the League should consider for study and action in the coming year. What do you see as today's urgent problems? What issues would you like to address through the League? What should our priorities be for study and action? Further, since next year is a big election year, how can we be most effective in informing citizens and encouraging them to vote? To stimulate the brain cells, juice, coffee and breakfast pastries will be available in the morning. Our luncheon speaker, Dr. Deane Neubauer, will deal with some of the issues involved in globalization. This topic is particularly timely because the League is currently reviewing its national position on international trade and we will be having decision-making in February. The luncheon menu will feature New England clam chowder, Caesar salad, pasta primavera (vegetarian), garlic bread, haupia and chocolate cake, iced tea and coffee. Reservations are due by December 3, 2001. Mail the reservation form on page 3 of this Voter or call the Office at 531-7448 to reserve your place.
