How to Turn Your Concerns into Law

Want to learn inside tips on how laws are made? Legislators and experienced advocates will be at the State Capitol auditorium to share their expertise with you.

On Nov. 5 from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm, State Senators Colleen Hanabusa and Les Ihara, Hawaii Civil Right Commissioner Bill Hoshijo, and Honolulu Mayors wife Gail Mukaihata Hannemann comprise the panel of experts. Judge Riki May Amano (ret.) will moderate.

They will discuss how to get started; what does it take to get a legislator to support your issue? Other topics are: how do you revive a bill that has been stalled in a hearing? How can a bill that was refused to be heard or was killed by a committee chair be resurrected? How to get the bill through a veto override. There are at least 6 other important topics on the agenda.
