Progress on Recycling

Our sewage, tons of which go into the landfill daily, will soon be converted to fertilizer. On October 31, Synagro technical manager Lorrie Loder told the Planning & Transportation committee that construction is complete and testing is in progress. Next spring is the probable start of full operations.

Milwaukee has been turning its sludge into fertilizer for decades, marketing it as Milorganite. Hawaii imports Milorganite. Perhaps we will soon be able to export our own sludge.
