Our National President Sends Wire to President Truman

Following is the telegram sent by Mrs. John G. Lee, National League President, to President Harry S. Truman:

The League of Women Voters urges you to place squarely before the American people the hard facts which face them with confidence in their capacity to meet the needs of these critical times. We believe in the ability and willingness of the citizens of this country to shoulder the heavy burdens which must be placed upon them if a strong and free United States is to survive. The League of Women Voters would like to reaffirm vigorously its support of the principles upon which the United Nations was founded and we urge our government to work through the United Nations to check aggression as the first essential step toward a free and peaceful world. It is our conviction that a strong and unified United Nations is essential to the achievement of these objectives.

Mrs. John G. Lee
