Message from Our President
I appreciate the confidence you have shown in me by electing me to the important office of president. I shall endeavor to fulfill the duties of this office to the best of my ability. As we know, the purpose of the League of Women Voters is "to promote political responsibility thru informed and active participation of citizens in government". It is the policy of the League "to take action on governmental measures and policies in the public interest. It shall not support or oppose any political party or candidate." It is the responsibility of all of us, in our work as Leaguers, to support this purpose and policy.
The strength of the League depends upon the participation of the membership. The accomplishments of the past would not have been possible without the work of many members. Undoubtedly the year ahead will offer many opportunities for League action. As we look to the future as a full-fledged League, we are ready to render greater service to the community.
The new board has a considerable responsibility in striving to carry out the directions of the membership and upholding the League purpose and policy. The League of Women Voters of Honolulu is continuing to try its wings. The success of the flight will depend upon the cooperative spirit and the hard work of the members.
Looking forward to a challenging year,
(signed) Ruth Miho
