Among the points noted by observers on August 13th were these:

As you saw in the papers, the Board of Supervisors voted to drop Kalakaua Realignment from the Easter Plan the vote was 5 - 2, Lemke and Kauhane dissenting.

The Supervisors' Finance Committee voted $250 to buy a new office chair for Sheriff Kahanamoku.

The Finance Committee has approved at least one application for steel ladders in new buildings, instead of the stairways required by the Building Code, and have suggested that the Building Department incorporate this change in an amendment to the Code. Newspaper reports say that some new buildings have ignored the Code requirement.

Observers uniformly report that, even huddling over the loudspeaker provided, they cannot hear the proceedings of the Finance Committee or of the Supervisors.
