Council Capers

The City Council was in a quandary last week.

At the hearing on the tax rate voters were vehement in their demand for reduction of the rate. The Council conceded to some extent.

Last week at the hearing on the Capital Budget all schools effected by the cut were represented by PTA presidents and principals begging for needed funds for overcrowded schools - termite eaten class rooms and new schools.

What is the answer?

More information to the public on school needs?

Trimming to the bone the expense of city government?

Using one set of plans for all schools?

Realization that our growing population shows need for further increase in taxes?
