The October unit meetings will be a wrap-up of the material of the national agenda item: support of U. S. economic policies which promote world development and maintain a sound U. S. economy.
The material of past units will be reviewed and the members will be asked to form a consensus. On the basis of the thoughts of all the leagues, national will base its present and future action.
Considering the expiration of the Trade Agreements Act in June 1962 we will want to give some thought to whether, as a league, we wish to support: more trade negotiating powers for the president; some kind of government assistance or tax break for businesses branching out in foreign countries (and if so, should this apply to all countries, or only to certain underdeveloped nations?) Are we satisfied with the present embargo against strategic materials allowed into Russia and her satellites? Do we wish to encourage our government's support of regional trade blocs ?
It is important for us to give our thoughts to these and related questions so that we can instruct the national board in our desires.
