General Membership Meeting - September 13, 1961

The subject of the local agenda was presented by Mrs. Annas. She spoke on the planning director, planning commission and the zoning board of Appeals.

Representative Eureka Forbes then was introduced. She explained the set up of the planning commission under the board of supervisors, prior to adoption of the charter. The general planning trend in other cities in the US was discussed. She posed questions the league might consider as to whether the city council was actually acting in accordance with the plans of the city charter members.

There seemed to be too much "spot zoning" and granting of variances without a real master plan< A good discussion followed. Two members of the Outdoor Circle were present and were interested in the league's activities local agenda.
