The LWV Goes to Jail
This may be your one and only chance to get in and out of jail in a few hours!
The League has arranged for a special tour of the new City and County Jail at Halawa for League members and representatives of various community groups on Wednesday, January 10th, from 9:30 am. -- 11:30 a.m. Captain Roland Sagum of the Honolulu Police Dept. and who is in charge of the jail will conduct the tour.
The choice and use of color, the modern layout with new multiple-cell and living areas, security precautions, and the placement of windows that eliminates the use of bars are some of the features that make seeing the new jail a worthwhile experience.
For those who have taken a previous tour please come and play host to our guests and help answer some of their questions. For those who have not seen the jail this is your last chance to see a truly unique League project.
Bus transportation will be provided for a 50¢ fee. Please call Dr. Teru Togasaki, 725-325 by January 5th if at all possible to make reservations. The bus will leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. from the Police Station, 1455 S. Beretania.
See you in jail!!
