IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS

The following is a reprint of an item which appeared in the Honolulu Advertiser, Monday, Sept 17, 1962:

League to Study State Government

Women interested in a study of government are invited to join the League of Women Voters who are beginning a comprehensive study of the State government of Hawaii.

This will be a two-year study which will culminate in the publication of a booklet.

Dr. Beatrice Markey, associate professor of Government at the University of Hawaii's Hilo campus, presented the outline of the study program at the first fall membership meeting of the League Wednesday. It was held at the Windward YWCA with members from both sides of the Pali attending.

Chairman of the different areas of government which will be studied are Mrs. R. D. Timmerman, description of the State; Mrs. Harvey King, executive branch; Laura Draper, legislative branch, Mrs. Claude Takekawa, judiciary branch.

Anyone interested is asked to call Mrs. Robert Black at 250-016.

There are four units of the League of Women Voters on Oahu. They are located at Waialae-Kahala, Waikiki, Honolulu and Windward Oahu. There is also a provisional unit in Hilo which will participate in the study.

(Ed. Note: Seven students from the honors class from Kailua High with their teacher attended the Windward meeting -- attendance was marked at 50 persons.)
