An Excerpt - Hawaii State Board Report

"The LWV of Maryland proposes that Election Laws be made a permanent State League responsibility. The appropriateness of the idea is based on the name of the League and on its principles. The proposal is deemed necessary because the League in many states is the only non-partisan citizen's group acting in the public interest which is working in this field. The Board decided that it favored the proposal for the reasons given by the Maryland League. However, Hawaii is too new and inexperienced in both election laws study and League procedure to be able to form an opinion on the suggested administration of such a permanent program item. Anyone who would like to read the Maryland proposal may borrow it from the State Office" at 3238 Alani Drive (Marguerite Simson's home).
