The Urban Coalition

THE URBAN COALITION: A Report, On July 31, 1967, 22 American leaders meeting at a conference called by Mayor Joseph M, Barr of Pittsburgh, chairman of the Conference of Mayors, and Mayor John Lindsay of New York, formed the URBAN COALITION and called upon the nation to bring "more resources to bear on domestic problems." For a summary of the meeting entitled "Emergency Convocation: The Urban Coalition" write to URBAN AMERICA - 1717 MASSACHUSETTS AVE. N.W., - WASHINGTON, D.C. 20036, We did ask for 150 copies for our Local Subscription Service, but they sent one copy. Please request it yourself. This report includes the Statement of Principles, Goals, and Commitments ratified by the participants of the convocation, keynote address by Mayor John V. Lindsay and responses by Bishop John E. Hines, Roy Wilkins, Henry Ford II, George Meany, Whitney Young, Jr., Joseph D. Keenan, David Rockefeller, and Walter Reuther.
