Unit Officers

Last spring the units for the first time elected their own officers for the coming year. You can make their job attractive and productive by attending your unit meeting. Who knows you might pick up a complete new idea or some gem of wisdom!!!

MANOA EVENING UNIT - Meets 7:30 P.M. the first and 3rd Wednesdays in 4 different homes this year.

Unit Chairman - RUTH BALSLEY - 2243 Round Top Drive - 949-0179 Ruth has been a League member since 1928. (Aren't we lucky to get her?) She joined the Honolulu League in 1966, a transfer from Missouri - and is living with her daughter, Betsy; another Leaguer. Ruth's hobby at the moment is doing nothing but enjoying the "Life of Rlley" --another victim of Polynesian Paralysis. (She does like bridge) To assist Ruth this year are:

Frances is an ex-world traveller, ,settling down in Honolulu in 1966 where she became a member of the League. Her other interest is Campfire Girls. She has two sons, one in the Philippines and one in Los Angeles. To assist her this year are:

Unit Chairman - LINDA SMART - 429 Mamaki St - 33-435 Linda is an active Leaguer having established our Speakers' Bureau last year. She has recently moved from the Windward side to the Niu area much to the delight of the struggling Kokohead unit. At present she is serving as a temporary chairman. Active in politics, Linda still has time for her 4 children and husband, John, a lawyer.

Unit Chairman - MARILYN BORNHORST - 1525 Oneele P1 941-1845 Marilyn has been a Leaguer less than a year, but has already become one of our most eager and active members. She is the mother of two girls and wife of Karl, a teacher at Kapiolani Community College. In her leisure moments, Marilyn likes to play golf.

WINDWARD MORNING UNIT - Meets 9:00 A.M. Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Enchanted Lakes area of Kailua on second and fourth Thursdays.

Unit Chairman - COLLEEN BALDWIN - P.O. Box 9668 - 261-5874 Colleen is another new Leaguer but well known in the Windward community as a "doer". She's active in almost everything! Three boys and husband, Irving who is with Hawaiian Employers Council make up the household. In her spare time... To assist Colleen are:

Unit Chairman - CAROL WHITESELL - 232 Pouli. Rd - 261-6114 Carol joined the League in Hilo and transferred to Honolulu two years ago. Her husband is with the U.S. Forestry Service. In between caring for him and her four children - 6 mos to 9 yrs -, Carol likes to strum the guitar. (Maybe this is the answer for discussion leaders to keep the unit alert!)

As you can see there were some summer casualties in the ranks of unit chairman and discussion leaders. It will be necessary to fill those slots this fall - VOLUNTEER - Call ANN DAVIDSON 741-425 or if you have a suggestion - same person - same number.
