Dear Sen. Fong:

(Your own words)

Very truly yours
(Your name)

Hawaii's Senator is one of those considered not fully committed to support of the treaty - and one of those whose support is crucial to assure the necessary two-thirds vote for Senate approval.

On February 6, 1969, the following telegram was sent to Sen. Fong.

"We strongly support ratification of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. We urge you to exert all possible influence to affect its ratification. Aloha. Honolulu League of Women Voters.

AUTHORITY: League support of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty is authorized under the League's Foreign Policy position which favors "continuing negotiations to reduce the risk of war" (January 1964)
