25-27 Units: STUDY AND CONSENSUS on Congress
Hawaii's sixth Legislature reconvenes on Wednesday, January 19. Significantly, Hawaii's League of Women Voters holds its Workshop on Lobbying the same day. Guest Speaker will be Mr, Herman Doi, State of Hawaii Ombudsman, who will talk on the "Art of Affecting Legislation". Open to all League lobbyists --- potential and already active --- as well as all other individuals interested in influencing the Legislature's actions, the workshop is 9:30 a.m. to noon at the McCully Library, 2211 S. King St,, Honolulu.
For further orientation, January 21 is the morning for a Capitol Tour. You'll be led through the maze at the Capitol, starting at 9:00 a.m. with a 30 minute film introduction to the Capitol and its activities and then attend a committee hearing, where the lobbyist's role as testifier takes place. The tour will begin at 9:00 a.m. in front of the auditorium on the lowest level of the parking garage.
UNITS I - II
We will be discussing Program-making at the first January unit and contributing to consensus on Congress Study at the second unit;. It can not be stressed too much how important your participation at these units will be. It is your time as the guiding force behind the League of Women Voters to have your opinions counted in its future development and growth. Do attend your unit - or any unit, All members are welcome at any one of the five scheduled meetings.
*NOTE THAT BEGINNING IN JANUARY, WINDWARD EVENING UNIT WILL HAVE A NEW MEETING PLACE.
