Diamond Head News

The Save Diamond Head Association met and discussed:

1. A permit was inadvertently issued to a property owner to build a 37-foot high house on slopes of D.H. There is a 2 year old proposal to limit the height to 25 feet which is still pending. The building permit has not been acted upon by the City Council.

2. While there are no D.H. funds in the City CIP for the coming fiscal, year, the projection for 1975-1978 is $1 million. $50,000 has been requested to study Kapiolani Park and surrounding area for long-range plans.

3. The City has appropriated money for a water line on the makai side of D.H. Road between Beach Park and the light house so the hill between the road and the ocean can be planted. The mauka side is under State control and the Association voted to urge the State improve their side also.

4. The proposed HSC (Historical Cultural-Scenic) zoning district for DH is still in planning committee (where it has been for 2 years).

If anyone would be interested in sitting in on the Save Diamond Head Association meetings a few times a year at the League representative, please contact Molly Long,734-6428.
