The Voters Service Committee has been hard at work this summer assembling a dignitary packed program to update Leaguers and acquaint new and prospective members with the current workings of city government. League Day at City Hall will be on Thursday, Sept. 11 at the new City Hall, 650 S. King St., beginning at 9:15. League hostesses will be in the lobby to meet, greet, and direct you to the meeting room on the 6th floor.

Since parking is limited at City Hall, carpooling is suggested. Parking is available at the HIC, 2 long blocks away for 75¢ a day.

During, the morning, top city administrators and department directors will personally brief us on how city government handles the many challenging and complex local prob lems. The City Managing Director Richard Sharpless will share his insights with us concerning the effects of the new city charter on city government. James Loomis, Director of the Office of Information and Complaint, will explain the channels open to citizens to voice their concerns about city problems.

The highlight of the morning will be a timely and lively panel discussion, The panel will examine the Waiahole-Waikane controversy to illustrate how the various departments coordinate their activities.

An optional program is planned for the afternoon for those who can stay for the brown bag lunch on the Palace Grounds at 12:30pm and a special guided tour of the new City Hall. Joyce Curry, Community Relations Ass't. in the Office of Information and Complaint, will be our guide and will include in our tour itinerary the City's commuter room, rarely seen because of security.
