From the President

The chance to serve on the State Land Use Commission is a challenge I could not refuse; not after five years of studying land use issues in Hawaii. Some of you have asked if I plan to continue as Honolulu League president now that I am a member of the LUC. *Yes, I do. However, I recognize that the demands on my time will be very heavy, and that I will not be able to devote as much time to League as I would like too I hope that you will bear with me and will help your Board as much as possible to carry out our program and goals.

The following changes have been made in Board assignments for 1975-6:

Nancy Guille will step in as 1st vice-president to replace Jane Ball who is moving to Oregon for a year. Nancy Will be program coordinator and unit coordinator.

Mildred Walston will join the Board as membership chairman. I am very grateful to Mildred for taking on this important job, and to Honolulu Morning unit which will be looking for a new unit membership chairman.

We are without a Finance Chairman, since Diane Hastert's resignation. However, our financial situation is good, thanks to the election officiating you have done. State and Honolulu Boards have agreed to a joint solicitation drive. A formula for dividing the money collected between State and all three local leagues has been worked out. Please say YES if you are asked to help. We can't operate without MONEY.

Many of you have told me how much you liked A Government Establishment of Mental and Moral Eunuchs which appeared on this page last month. I would like you to feel that this is your page as well as mine. A will welcome short articles, letters to-the-editor, or anything else which might interest League members. Let me hear from you...

The League office has several copies of the SCHOOL HANDBOOK available for members attending local PTA meetings. At fifty cents each they are a bargain for parents of school-age children.
