From the President

By the time you read this we will be moving. I am very excited about our new office. It is large and handsome, with orange carpet and walnut paneling. There is a covered deck and convenient parking. The location is the penthouse (3rd floor) of the Parkway Bldg., 1232 Waimanu St., just off Piikoi across from Ala Moana Center. I think it's going to be a pleasant place to work and hold board and committee meetings. Happily, the Telephone Company will let us keep our present number: 531-7448. After we're settled, we'll have an OPEN HOUSE. Watch for an announcement in the Voter.

Thanks to all of you who helped by sharing ideas, checking ads, telephoning and inspecting possible space; especially Dorothy Murdock, Dorothy Turnbull, Mildred Walston, Helen Frederick, Laura Goo, Sue Francis and her husband, Dee Lum and her father.

Annual Meeting is the one business meeting of the year for the League. It is the time when the members meet to choose local program for the coming year, to adopt a budget to implement League purpose and program, and to elect officers, directors and a nominating committee. Only annual meeting has the power to change the bylaws, the basic document which governs the League.

Please do review the material in this Voter, and be prepared to make your wishes known at the Annual Meeting. Among other things, you will be asked to vote on a proposed increase in dues, from $12 to $15. The National League is also proposing an increase in per member payment from $4.25 to $6.00, to be voted on at National Convention in May.

Annual meeting is also a time to have fun, to socialize with other League members and guests. The Planning Committee has planned a stimulating panel discussion after lunch, to whet our appetites for units in May. We hope to have some very special guests, too. Who?? Come and see.
