IF THERE'S one thing Hawaii Kai residents have in common it's likely to be the traffic on Kalanianaole Highway. There is no other road to travel. The Hawaii Kai unit belongs to the Communities Council which sponsored a community meeting on May 18 to hear Roy Parker, staff person to the Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization (OMPO).He gave a short history of development related to the highway improvement program up to the projection of fixed guideway along the corridor. The present status of the highway improvement will be an additional timed signal light at Kalani High and possible extension of carpool and bus exclusive lane to Aina Koa Ave. (freeway ramp) if the citizens so request.
