A Jewel for Leaguers
Chairman Marilyn Bornhorst will get League Day moving by delineating the job of the legislative and executive branches. Taking over, Eileen Lota, City Clerk, will clarify the role of her office in the legislative process.
Next we'll take a look at the development of the Council since 1972 when our City Charter was revised. Councilman Frank Loo will comment on significant changes.
The means and ends of the Office of Council Services is the feature of our panel discussion. Peter Leong, Director of Council Services, George Moriguchi, Director of the Department of Land Utilization and Councilman George Akahane will share their perspectives. Moderating the panel is experienced speaker and active League member, Pat Shutt.
A brown bag lunch is planned. Bring a sandwich and join the group. After lunch, at 12:15, we'll meet in the courtyard of Honolulu Hale for a tour of City Hall.
League Day looks like a good chance to get to know our City Council better. Hope you can make it.
