Legislative Tours

And now . . . everything you wanted to know about the State. Capitol but were afraid to ask . . .

where can I find my senator/ representative?

how can I get a copy of a bill?

can I attend committee hearings?

what's a caucus, anyway?

where is this Legislative Reference Bureau I keep hearing about?

If these questions are keeping you awake at night, here's good news. The League is sponsoring two identical tours of the Capitol for its members. Attendance on the tours is limited so send in your reservations today; dates are February 25 and March 3, both Fridays.

Tour schedule:

9 - 9:45 am: Meet in the Lt. Governor's office, executive (5th) level of the Capitol, ewa end, for coffee and briefing. Since parking is limited during the legislative session, consider taking TheBus.

10:00 am:. Tour of Washington Place, once the home of Queen Liliuokalani, now the Governor's residence.

11:00 am: (Time flexible) Recognition in House or Senate, followed by:Tour of. Capitol.

Noon: Lunch on lawn of Iolani Palace with legislators (Royal Hawaiian Band plays at 12:15). Bring a sandwich (drinks available at chamber level of Capitol) or-pick up something at a deli in town.

1:30 pm: (Optional) Drop in at a committee hearing of your choice.,

You must make a reservation by February 15 to go on either tour! Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis; mail the form below to Barbara Farwell, 1562 Molehu Drive, Honolulu, 96818. Do not mail to the office!
