Help League Be Heard

Arlene Woo, Honolulu LWV Public Relations Chairman and its new "Viewpoint Voice", is looking for League members with a literary flair, or a suppressed urge to write, to help in the production of opinions to be presented on "Viewpoint", KHVH Radio 99. Because these spots are

the League's only consistent exposure before the public, Leaguers should work together to maintain the high quality of the program, and to keep it on the air on a weekly basis.

Helen Griffin presented over 60 "Viewpoints", and developed a successful format for the program. These general guidelines are recommended when writing a "Viewpoint":

  1. The outside time limit is one minute 40 seconds. Aim for one minute 30 seconds for safety's sake.

  2. A good speed for narration types out at about 25 lines or one page of double-spaced copy.

  3. In the text give:

    1. LWV's opinion on the topic

    2. Facts to back up the opinion

    3. A strong summary statement worded simply

"Viewpoint" is aired several times a day: 7:48 a.m., 1:12 p.m., 4:52 p.m., and 9:12 p.m. Contact Arlene Woo at 537-6534 to let her know your interest.
