LWV President Dot Ridings to Come to Hawaii

TO BE FEATURED SPEAKER AT ANNUAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION

WILL SPEAK AT LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS STATE COUNCIL

Dorothy S. Ridings, President of the League of Women Voters of the United States, will be the luncheon speaker at the annual Women's Day celebration sponsored by the Honolulu County Committee on the Status of Women on June 2 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Dot has been asked to speak on women's role in the 1984 elections.

The theme of the day's activities is "na Wahine Holomua" or women moving forward together. Dot's speech will cap an exciting morning of workshops planned by the Status of Women Committee in cooperation with the League of Women Voters of Hawaii. Tentative work-shop topics are: the legislative process, impact of the media on elections, how to be an intelligent voter, and strategy planning.

LEAGUE STATE COUNCIL SCHEDULED FOR SAME DAY

League State Council will also, be held at the Sheraton on June 2. This was deliberately planned to allow League members to take advantage of the activities planned for the Women's Day celebration as an extended part of the State Council program. In addition to the choice of workshops noted above, Council delegates and League members will have the opportunity to hear Dot Ridings comment on the state of the League from the national perspective. Council business will also include adoption of the 1984-85 State League budget, adoption of the State League program, and reports from local leagues and state board members.

It is not often that a National League president visits Hawaii. Dot Ridings is a dynamic speaker, and her visit is an exciting opportunity to stimulate public interest in and support for League.
