New Voter Editor Announced
President Dee Lum announced the appointment of Eloise Pekelo as editor of ALOHA VOTER and new board member at the Board of Directors meeting on May 22. She also thanked outgoing editor Jean Aoki for her hard work and dedication for the past 2 years.
Pekelo comes to the League after just completing the 1984 legislative session as analytical researcher and newsletter editor for Senator Bert Kobayashi. She is recently retired after 21 years with Pan American World Airways, where she was senior public relations representative and assistant director of Public Relations for Hawaii and the Mid-Pacific.
She serves on the Media Task Force and the Policy and Organizational Maintenance Committee of the Honolulu Status of Women Commission. She studied at the College of the Pacific at Stockton, California and the University of Hawaii, and is married to John Pekelo also recently retired from the Honolulu Police Department as Assistant Chief. They have five children.
