President's Message

The beginning of 1985 is also the beginning of League studies!

Note on our calendar the meeting for our local study on taxes --Sources and Uses of Funds at the city level. Join the committee that day or call the office to indicate your interest and we will check with you for the convenient meeting times.

Now we are ready to join with other Leagues across the country in the study which members adopted at the May convention -- Financing the Federal Government.

Convention delegates adopted the broad-scoped study -- FFG -- in recognition of the fact that fiscal questions are likely to dominate the domestic public policy debate for at least the next sever-al years and that fiscal decisions will affect many other League program issues.

Leagues are being provided with guides and outlines to enhance direct member agreement; the agreement method will be used for arriving at the national position. This relatively new approach is the result of study and discuss-ion; adoption of this method is part of long-range planning for League viability and depends on our adaptability for success.

Note the INSERT in this Voter, and read the Federal Tax Policy Information on Page 3.

Review your spring and summer National Voters, save the Federal Tax Policy information, and visit your library for additional reference.
