President's Message

Happy New Year

And Hurray for the Year of the Tiger!

The Board voted at the December meeting to reschedule Voter distribution. You will note that this one is a January/February issue. It will be supplemented by a flyer describing the Special February Meeting. You will be receiving a March/April Voter and and it will be supplemented by a special mailing with materials for the annual meeting. That mailing will contain budget and program proposals, nominating committee report, any bylaw changes, and of course, meeting information.

We hope this system will provide adequate information when you need it. Please mark your calendars early, reserve the dates and look for the specific information on the event which will arrive in time for you to arrange the transportation needed to make you a part of League activity. Tell us at the annual meeting how you find this new system.

Plan to come to the February meeting. It will be our first cable television program. Read the February flyer for details.

In November many League members personalized letters going out in our direct mail appeal. This is an approach to individuals in the community asking them to support League through their sup-port. We are grateful to those who responded for despite the competition for monies we have received a lot of aloha and support from friends who understand League.

If you know people who think highly of your involvement in League or if you remember former members who are glad you have maintained your involvement, join this appeal. Let Joann Green know who you would like to send our next letter to; she will make sure that that person is not already on our list and will supply you with the letters, stamps and any inserts. You supply the inspiration!

We are grateful for these monies supplement your dues, other contributions and vote count fees and enable us to continue our pro-grams, action and voter service projects.

Speaking of program--please read the program criteria found on page 3 and participate at the January units. You will learn what we are doing, if you do not remember, and you will help decide what we will be doing for the next year. It is your organization and your input is vital. See you there.

Aloha,
Dee
