YWCA NewsHONOLULU -- The YWCA of Oahu is seeking nominations for its Outstanding Women's Achievement Awards to be made at the YWCA' 10th Annual Leader Luncheon, May 13 at the Westin Ilikai Hotel. The Outstanding Women's Achievement Awards honor five of Hawaii's outstanding woman achievers, one each in the fields of arts and humanities, business, employment advocacy, government and the professions for either voluntary or employed service. Businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to make nominations no later than March 21, 1987. Nomination forms are available by calling the YWCA at 538-7061 or they may be picked up at the YWCA's main office, 1040 Richards Street. The YWCA sets these guidelines for award nominees: nominees should achieve distinction in their individual fields; work on behalf of the community in either voluntary or professional capacity; work to eliminate racism and sexism; demonstrate concern for humanity; and promote the advancement of women. The YWCA of Oahu has scheduled a series of lunchtime programs to address the diversity of interest among women. All sessions will be held at the Richards Street YWCA, 1040 Richards Street, room 307 from noon to 1:00 p.m. on consecutive Wednesdays, beginning March 4. The programs are free to YWCA members and $3 per session for non-members (unless otherwise noted). Cal: 538-7061 to register.
