"The LWV Presents"
The convention center issue continues to spark controversy among residents and developers on Oahu. The pros and cons of constructing a convention center at the former Aloha Motors site on Kalakaua Avenue is the subject of November's Channel 20 TV presentation.
Guest panelists are:
Kem Lowry, UH professor and Chairman of the UH Department of Urban & Regional Planning;
David McNeil of McNeil Wilson Communications, a spokesperson for First Development Corporation; and
Astrid Monson, Chairperson of the League Planning & Zoning Committee.
Panel moderator is Linda Chinn.
The panelists bring differing points of view to the fore on such areas of concern as whether there is a need for a convention center on Oahu, the height and density factor, and infrastructure stress.
This LWV presentation will air throughout the month of November, Monday evenings at 7:00.
"The LWV Presents" is produced monthly by a crew of League members and presented as a public service by Oceanic Cablevision. The program has run continuously for over four years on Oceanic Channel 20. By early 1990, the operation and management of activities relating to "The LWV Presents" will be taken over by Olelo, a non-profit corporation established to administer public, educational, and government access on Oahu. We look forward to continuing our long and successful relationship and to maintaining this forum for debate and discussion of issues of public interest in Hawaii.
