Dear Ms. Ellis:
As locally owned and operated company, Unitek Environmental Services feels a special need to preserve the beauty and protect the resources of Hawaii. To help do your part, we are announcing what has become a quarterly program to collect household hazardous waste from the public and properly dispose of it. These quarterly household hazardous waste collections supplement the daily used oil collections which we have sponsored for over a decade.
This program is provided as a free community service. There will be no charge to participating residents, and Unitek Environmental Services receives no government or private sector subsidies of any kind. However, we do hope to join forces with the DOH sometime later this year for a statewide program funded by the 1991 legislature. We also intend to explore ways of developing a cooperative program with Neighbor Island governments in order to meet their specific needs.
It is our hope that by providing free collection services we can donate a valuable service to the community while helping to keep harmful toxic materials from being improperly disposed of in our landfills and storm drains, or simply dumped onto the ground. Please feel free to inform your members about Unitek's program and ask them to call us at 834-1444 to reserve a time to drop off their waste.
