Health Care Position Statement
Our annual membership meeting was a great success with a record number of attendees. This kind of support is what we need, what we want, and what we know we will get throughout the year. Thank you.
The two new Directors you elected to the Board are ready, willing and able to take on the mantle of leadership. Jacqueline Vogt, new to the League, but wise to the assumption of responsibility is ready to take on Voter Service and deserves all the help we can give her -- so be ready to say "yes!" when she calls her first meeting.
Veteran Joann Green, a seasoned League member will chair the Neighborhood Board Committee, vacant since Mildred Walston left for Seattle. She will be looking for volunteers to monitor as many Boards as possible, as well as the Neighborhood Commission.
We are still looking for someone out there who will tackle transportation, vote count, viewpoints, Board of Water Supply or Ethics Campaign Reform. So, climb out from under there and speak out.
Your president will be out of town for the month of June acquiring new skills at the National Convention in Boston to spring on you in the Fall, and to take a much needed period of rest and relaxation. Under the capable leadership of Vice President Jean Aoki, you will hardly notice the absence.
Jean has been beset by medical problems of late and will need help in the office daily. A few hours in the office sorting the mail and answering the telephone is the kind of immediate help we are seeking. Surely, there are a few members who can spare that time, either in the morning or the afternoon. Don't wait to be asked. Call and offer your help.
