Program Planning Meeting

A lively group of Leaguers turned out for the Program Planning meeting on December 4. No new programs were suggested by the group but there was much discussion of current programs, action on National programs, Hawaii's Health Forum and election-related activity.

An enthusiastic report was given of League's sponsorship of the first "Citizens Jury" in Hawaii. This concept was developed by the Jefferson Center in Minneapolis over 15 years ago. The process involves average citizens in defining and evaluating key campaign issues.

Robert Rees shared some candid thoughts on Hawaiian politics and the government officials who are involved in the process. Rees proved to be as interesting a speaker as he is a commentator.
