A Time for Women
September 1994 will mark the First Annual Women's Health Month. The League along with AARP will network with Honolulu County Commission on the Status of Women and the Elderly Affairs Division of the Department of Human Resources, City & County of Honolulu who are sponsoring a symposium, "Health Issues for Women over 55."
Judith Bowman, Health Specialist with the National AARP Women's Initiative, will be the featured speaker. Local panelists include Dean Barbara Siegel, UH School of Public Health; Assistant Professor Colette Brown, UH School of Social work; and Evelyn Char, RN, MS.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 20,1994 at 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Park will feature a public forum to discuss women's health issues. The resulting priority concerns and strategies for change will be compiled and delivered to the White House Conference of Aging for inclusion in their planning and goal-setting for the next ten years. The conference for this event will be held on September 3, 1994 at the Ala Moana Hotel, Hibiscus Ballroom from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The conference will feature an array of speakers who will provide information on topics important to women's health. The Conference will feature a luncheon with a keynote address by Representative Patsy Mink on women's health. There will be information booths and you will be able to pick up Women's Health Month materials. Cost is $15.00 including lunch. Call 586-5755 for more information.
