On July 28, Saturday morning, the League had its second orientation session for new and prospective members. As usual, the number was not large, but the people invited were interesting and stimulating. We can be sure that whatever area of League they interest themselves, they will be a true asset to us. Annelle Lee, a retired Navy Captain and nurse has already been involved with the Court Monitoring Project and now is helping at Olelo in the Candidates in Focus project, Christine McGuire is the news director of CNN Radio(650), Eve Morawski is a Business Consultant involved with Pacific Asian Hawaii Business. She is a new member who will be available after the fall season when she returns from the Far East. Bill Sharp is an elementary school teacher who is running for Hawaii House of Representatives.
I think the extra bonus at these Orientation Meetings is the social relations that go on with the coffee and doughnuts- especially for the always busy Board members and committee chairs, who rarely have time for fun in this area. They give generously of their time to explain the League to these new members and I want to thank all who came that morning: Astrid Monson, Jean Aoki, Arlene Ellis, Marion Saunders, Annie Kim, and Pearl Johnson.
