Forum for Congressional Candidates

The United Nations Association with League as one of the co-sponsors is presenting a "A Candidates Forum on International Issues" for candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives on August 29. The event will be held at the AAUW House at 1802 Keeaumoku Street form 46 p.m.

The theme of the forum will be to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Declarations of Human Rights, by addressing human rights in general, including Women's economic and educational rights, Children's rights, strategies for peace in Asia and the South Pacific, U. funding of international education and cultural exchange, and U.S. financial support of the United Nations to carry out its work on human rights.

This forum will be an opportunity for candidates to express their position on international issues in general, and on issues of particular concern to the sponsoring association and their memberships. There will be time allotted for each candidate to make a short presentation, which will be followed by questions from the audience. This will not take the form of a debate.

League members are urged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church next door to AAUW House will be available
