Gambling Front

So far as gambling is concerned, this session was an extremely quiet one at the Legislature. No bill was heard in committee. However, the HCALG President, Judy Rantala, was very vigilant in tracking bills. She also sent monthly articles about gambling to educate legislators and remind them that we are still around.

Our very success has been a problem with respect to contributions and finances. Some believe we have won the battle and contributions can be reduced or eliminated. We were able to relieve some of our financial burden when a local church offered us space at a considerably reduced monthly rate. But other office expenses continue. Any and all contributions are gratefully received at the new address, HCALG 2345 Nuuanu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96817.

It would be nice to be able to relax completely. However the gambling industry is vigilant, and waiting for just that relaxation to sneak in a bill. So there will be no change in our watchfulness and checking.
