BOE Election

On October 10, the League's Education Committee and the Social Justice Council of the First Unitarian Church of Honolulu will co-host a forum for Board of Education candidates. All candidates surviving the primaries on September 23 have been invited to participate, and they will be addressing questions put to them by a moderator. The forum will take place at the church, located at 2500 Pali Highway, and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm. The public, as well as all Leaguers, will be invited. Olelo will videotape the forum and plans to show the tape subsequently.

The Education Committee is also surveying Board of Education candidates, and the Honolulu Star Bulletin has agreed to run their replies to selected questions. As was done in 2000, when the Star Bulletin also published our BOE candidate survey results, we chose the replies that had turned out to be most revealing of candidates' positions and those were the ones the paper used for publication.

Mary Anne Raywid, Chair
Education Committee
