"Iron-Jawed Angels" Fundraiser
In March, 2008, during Women's Health Month, we are planning a fundraiser showing the film "Iron-Jawed Angels" The film premiered February, 2004 in Washington D.C. at a special opening party at the Library of Congress, hosted by the LWV-US and HBO. Still relevant today, especially in preparing for an election year, the documentary drama details the last few years of the suffragist movement before the 19th amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution in August, 1920. The role of Carrie Chapman Catt, founder of the League of Women Voters, is performed by Anjelica Houston.
We are having a private showing of the film for those who want to serve actively on the Women's Health and Safety Committee. Dinner is included. Please join us. There will be a sign up sheet in the office or e-mail Suzanne Meisenzahl at Suzanne@lwv-hawaii.com.
