Proposed Slate of State Officers - 1967-1969

The nominating committee, after much discussion, telephoning, and letterwriting, presents the following slate of officers for the coming two years. The biographies are excerpted from the longer report which will be made to the Convention in April.

President: Mrs. George Simson. Marguerite joined the Falcon Heights, Minnesota, League in 1958. She has served on local League Boards in three states - Minnesota, Colorado, and Hawaii. She was elected the first president of the LWV of Hawaii in 1965. Her husband is an assistant professor of English at the University of Hawaii. They have three children in elementary school.

Vice-President: Mrs. Thomas Gilson. Marie joined the LWV in Westfield, New Jersey, in 1955. She served on the board there as finance chairman, and in Honolulu as membership chairman and vice-president. Last November Marie was appointed to the state board and serves at both levels until April 14. Her husband is a professor of management and industrial relations at the University of Hawaii. They have three grown children living on the mainland.

Secretary-Treasurer: Mrs. George Sloane. Opal joined the LWV in Richmond, California, in 1952, where she served as national agenda chairman and as vice-president. She came to Honolulu in 1953, became active in the League, and was president of the Honolulu League in 1959-60. Her husband is a research technologist with the Hawaiian Sugar Planters Association. They have one daughter in High School.

Director: Mrs. Chandler Rowe. Peggy has been a League member for 20 years. She joined the LWV in Appleton, Wisconsin and served on the board in many capacities including the presidency. Her experience includes Wisconsin State Budget Committee and a National Convention. This past year she has worked on the membership committee of the Honolulu League. Her husband is the President of Hawaii Loa College. They have two grown children and one in high school.

Director: Mrs. A. O. Marrack. Althea has been a member of the Honolulu League for two years and has worked on the local agenda and the water resources committees. She was born on Oahu, raised on Maui, and has lived in Honolulu since 1928. Her husband is retired. They have three grown children.
