The League has two arms. The League of Women Voters of Hawaii is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to encourage informed and active participation of all citizens in government and politics. Membership in the League is open to everyone, and there are local branches on the Big Island, Kauai, and Oahu.

The League of Women Voters of Hawaii Education Fund, Inc. does not join the LWV of Hawaii in its lobbying and action programs. It is a separate organization established to sponsor purely educational projects.

The Education Fund is applying for $71,400 in grant money to carry out the League's research in juvenile justice as quickly, professionally, and comprehensively as possible. The other League arm will be able to act directly on solutions to the problems facing the juvenile justice system.
