Meet the New State Board Members

ANNE LEE, President

Anne Lee, who joined the Hawaii League in 1981, is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at West Oahu College. Prior to moving to Hawaii, she served as a League member in Ohio. Lee, who received her Ph.D. from Miami University, Ohio in 1977, headed the LWVH's Committee to monitor the Reapportionment Commission and served as the Government Issues chair on the State Board from 1981-83 and 1983-85.

JEANNE TREBOR-MacCONNELL, Vice President

Jeanne Trebor-MacConnell is President and Principal Broker of The Property Managers Ltd. She is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a major in drama. An active volunteer, Trebor-MacConnell and her husband, Barrie, have worked on many of the Honolulu League's vote counts.

TISHA HICKSON, Secretary

Tisha Hickson, an anthropologist who has done research at Kapiolani-Children's Medical Center, joined the Hawaii League about seven years ago. She served on the Schools Committee and helped to organize the Concurrence on Reproductive Choice.

VICKI ZELENSKI, Treasurer

Vicki Zelenski, a past president and secretary of the LWV-Hawaii County, is currently the president of the Hawaii County Mental Health Association. She is also active with the Hilo Hospital Auxiliary, Community Strivers, and the AAUW Hawaii County.

PETER HERMAN, Public Relations

A family-trial law attorney with Damon, Key, Char & Bocken, Peter Herman has been involved with public policy issues for over 11 years. A graduate of Stanford Law School, Herman drafted and coordinated major legislation for a California State Senator. He also directed the Citizens for Effective Public Policy, a non-profit California corporation involved in health, social policy and tax issues.

MURIEL R. ROBERTS, Human Resources/Social Policy Chair

Muriel Roberts has served with the League since 1966, in locations such as Idaho, Seattle, Honolulu, and currently, in Maui. Roberts, who manages her husband's pediatric office in Kihei, served as the State Voter Education Administrator, as well as the Social Policy Chair for the LWV-Hawaii State Board.

DEE DEE LETTS, Leo Hana Editor

Dee Dee Letts is a relatively new member to the League but has many years experience in citizen organization and input to public policy through her former association with Life of the Land and other community groups. She currently works as a planner for the Hawaii Community Development Authority, and is a mediator with the Neighborhood Justice Center.

MARION SAUNDERS, Action Chair

Marion Saunders, now serving a third term as Action Chair, was one of the Honolulu League's first leaders when it was formed in the late 1940's. She has served as Director of the UH Continuing Education for Women Program and on the State Board of Education.

MARIAN HATTON

Marian Hatton, who has been in Hawaii since 1982, became a League member in 1957 when a Provisional League was formed in Frederick County Maryland. In 1960, Hatton joined the 1500-member Montgomery County League in Maryland. Over the years, her League involvements have been in the housing, planning and allied fields.
