Education Fund Programs

Voter Education and Participation is the number one program for 1994. Next year the Education Fund will expand in four areas:

  • We've Got the Power: Skills for Democracy is a program (based on a LWV of Minnesota Education Fund project) designed to reverse the disturbing trend of young people choosing to be uninvolved in our political process.

  • Wired for Democracy will educate League leaders on how to make the most of advanced communications technologies for educating abroad audience of voters about candidates and their positions.

  • Motor Voter Implementation will focus on educating the public on their rights under the 1993 legislation.

  • Voter Service is the traditional program of registering voters combined with scheduling and broadcasting issue forums.

Program 2 is Public Education on Health Care, with the nationwide series of public seminars being just one forum.

Program 3 is Environmental Education, concentrating on groundwater protection, municipal solid waste management, and nuclear waste cleanup.

Program 4 is Emerging Democracies, which will offer the kind of expertise and grassroots perspective that can empower citizens to build better communities worldwide.

Leaguers can help these programs by making a tax-deductible contribution to the LWVUS Education Fund.
