State Council to be Held on Kauai

The 1998 League State Council is scheduled for May 15 and 16 on Kauai. The quarterly state board meeting will be held following the conclusion of state council.

It is the policy of state league to try to hold some state councils on the neighbor islands to allow their league members the opportunity to participate in some of the council activities and to observe the council's actions.

According to our bylaws, each local league sends its president or his/her designee plus one other delegate to state councils. The state board comprises the rest of the delegation. The council gives guidance to the state board on program, methods of work, and budget as submitted by the state board. The council adopts a budget for the ensuing fiscal year and transacts such other business as is presented by the board.

Jackie Kido of Kauai, who is in charge of getting the keynote speaker, and Suzanne Meisenzahl are working on the logistics for council. Something special is planned for this year. Join us as we turn back the clock to old Hawaii, and enjoy the serenity of Waimea Plantation Cottages along the ocean on Kauai's West Side.

These restored plantation cottages come complete with period furniture, full kitchens and delightful lanais overlooking coconut groves. For more information regarding costs and to reserve accommodations, please call Suzanne at (808) 735-5998 or the league office at (808) 531-7448.
