KPAA - Check Out Two Alliance in Action Projects

The League of Women Voters of Kauai joined the Kauai Planning Action Alliance two years ago. There are a couple of ongoing projects that League members may be pleased to learn more about. Here are two:

Parks Action Team.

The LWV 2001 Study of 17 County Parks was requested and submitted for review. After review of all studies, the group developed a vision for our parks. Find it on www.kauainetwork.org

Community Indicators Project

An Advisory Committee composed of key leaders from state, local and federal government agencies, nonprofits and community groups, and the business community has been formed to establish a draft set of 54 indicators to measure and track important trends on Kauai to determine if we are progressing as an island in accordance with the vision set forth in the Kauai General Plan 2000. Information on each indicator is now being gathered and will be incorporated into what will become an annual report - Measuring What Matters for Kauai. The first report is scheduled to be issued in January 2007.

"...determine if we are progressing as an island in accordance
with the vision set forth in the in the Kauai General Plan 2000."
