The League of Women Voters of Hawaii stands in strong support of HB411 which requires that all hospitals provide female survivors of sexual assault with medically and factually accurate and unbiased information regarding emergency contraception (EC).

It is the League's position to support the basic level of quality care for all Hawaii residents and control health care costs.

This is minimally a best medical practice, not only endorsed by the AMA (American Medical Association) as well as the ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists) and the League. This compassionate care can protect the woman from an unintended pregnancy which raises psychological and emotional costs as well as a lifetime cost to the survivor and family.

Again, we stand in support of this bill.

Thank you for the opportunity to testify.
