Chair Yamane, Vice Chair Nishimoto and members of the Committee on Health

The League of Women Voters of Hawaii supports HB 991, which amends Chapter 304A of the Hawaii Revised Statue to include a new subpart which is inclusive of students that complete a state approved medical school program at the University of Hawaii and who agree to practice in the rural areas of the State, as designated by the University of Hawaii.

We support this bill, as we are well aware that persons, who are encouraged to and complete residency in rural areas, often stay to practice in these rural areas.

We urge passage of HB 991

Thank you for the opportunity to testify in support of HB 991
