The League of Women Voters of Hawaii Supports HB 1369 which adds in SECTION 1, Chapter 304A of the Hawaii Revised Statutes as amended by adding a new subpart of part II to be appropriately designated as reads in the bill

We support this bill as it will encourage those eligible to participate in the loan repayment fund, which will reduce the liability of owed financial obligations at the end of their first year after graduation, and allow them to remain in our rural areas to practice as newly trained in Hawaii physicians.

As a graduate of the University of Hawaii School of nursing, I remained to practice in the State of Hawaii, much due to a loan repayment program like the above available to me at the end of my first year of my practice.

We urge passage of HB 1369.

Thank you for the opportunity to testify in support of HB 1369
