The League of Women Voters wholeheartedly supports SB 1083 SD1 and its adequate funding to wire all state capitol conference rooms used for public hearings, the capitol auditorium, and both chambers, to allow for video broadcasts. This is a good step forward to improve public access capabilities and facilitate citizen participation. Hard wiring the state capitol avoids the costs of manual installation of wiring by a contractor, as currently practiced, and brings the capabilities of this important facility to 21st century standards.

Not only does this make good business sense as a sound investment that will avoid the costs in money and time of the current manual installations by a contractor, it will help enhance government operational capabilities and very importantly, facilitate citizen participation.

We urge the passage and funding of SB 1083. Thank you for the opportunity to testify.
