The League of Women Voters strongly supports SCR 23/SR 10 which would attempt to purchase the Moanalua Gardens property.

Ever since most of us have been here on earth, we have enjoyed the beautiful Moanalua Gardens, whether merely driving by, enjoying the festivals held there, taking our families there for picnics, or letting the children enjoy running and playing on the lawn and in the stream.

The loss of this site for any other use would be devastating to citizens who have never contemplated that possibility. It is so unique and adds so much to Hawaii’s beauty and list of favorite recreational spots that it must be preserved for the generations to follow.

We urge the adoption of SCR 23/SR 10, and hope that the State can bring the purchase of the Moanalua Gardens property to a successful conclusion. We thank the sponsors of these resolutions, and for the opportunity to support them.
